After significant lineup changes, including the addition of wunderkind Walter “Junie” Morrison, Ohio Players recorded their first album, Pain, and brought their vision of soul to the world early in 1972. Released on Westbound, this album set the template for all the records to follow. Seeing the group introduce a mix of righteous soul, party anthems and unabashed sexuality, the world would take a minute to catch on--but they soon would. Pain also debuted The Players’ love for provocative album covers, giving people their first taste of iconic cover model Pat Evans and the bondage themes to come.
